Grace in Life and Politics

Articulating Positions with Understanding, Strength and Grace.

Unfortunately many people, Right or Left leaning, resort to name calling and demeaning accusations. Others adopt the position of a party or another without understanding of the issue.
Most issues are complicated and are like a two edged sword cutting both ways. Understanding of the pros a cons of an issue is essential before we take a position. We should be able to share an opinion in such a manner that others can appreciate what we have said, even if they don't agree.
Meaningful dialog may start as a result. Sometimes things don't change but we have done our homework and it will show.

There is a scripture verse that I especially love. It is found in Proverbs. In the KJV as I learned it many years ago. Proverbs 25:11  "A Word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver."

This verse is the antithesis of what is too often expressed in our political system.

Many Christians fall into the trap of not thoroughly grasping issues well and responding in anger.  As Christians we able to be strong in our faith while exercising graciousness in our manner.

Let's do at least a modicum of research before speaking. Then we are able to articulate our responses well without rancor.

Grace Dispensed

Grace is a topic of conversation among Christians world wide. We love the Amazing Grace that we have been given. We give credence to wonderful books on Grace by Charles Swindoll (Grace Awakening) and Philip Yancy (What’s so Amazing about Grace). We love the free gift of Grace we have been given by no means or work of our own.

Why is it that those of us who love Grace often fail to dispense the grace we have been given undeservedly to those around us. What is our reaction when someone swerves in front of us on the freeway? Maybe it's toward the those who smoke, overeat, imbibe too much alcohol or swear. We could go on and on could we not?

What if others knew our hearts as God does? Ouch! The truth hurts doesn't it?

What if we remembered that people do things out of emotion, frustration and pain. Christians and Non-Christians alike. How all of us need Grace. How the world needs grace! Grace a simple but powerful message.

We have the message of true grace. Lets share it! Lets embrace it. Lets remember it at ALL times. Lets share it around. Oh the benefits to us and others! Lets live the message.

Sure we all fail far too often but then we “experience” that Grace in the forgiveness we receive. Lets extend Grace to others.
